The wooden toe boards are from inside a church organ from Tabernacle United
Reform Church, Chippenham, dating from 1904. Restored using a wax based
natural oil, enhancing all the marks that have built up over time securing its
narrative. Looking closely, you can see writing and marks made by the maker.
Each hole in the boards has a history, a memory of sound, travelling through each
time it was played, these boards represent the inner beauty of the instrument.
Not only does music physically echo, it also echoes the beauty within us all,
highlighting the togetherness we all feel and how music can connect with the
individual, a space and a community. Music resonates in us all, allowing us to
contemplate, reflect, feel and respond.
